Latin America and Caribbean competition: Shools with a Sustainable Future.



The Rally "Schools with a Sustainable Future", is an instrument of the "Vive con Esperanza Award: Innovation for Sustainability" summons schools of all Latin America and the Caribbean to work together and to build scenarios that promote the building of a better, stronger and sustainable society, conscious of them risks, but also with the ability to turn to a different destination, full of hope. 
Ratings: 
1. Innovation and creativity to educate and implement sustainable processes with the participation of children and young people of all levels.2. Developing a culture of learning about the impact of humans in the environment, with the use of communication tools and technology that effectively involve children and young people, parents and local community.3. Development of practical ideas that enable people to live more sustainable, flexible and resilient.4. The example that the school offers to its students and the community through the implementation of sustainable practices in the promotion of the elements of the Prize (water use efficiency, energy efficiency, food production, education, social, etc.)5. Involvement of all stakeholders in the development of the community school's actions: (parents, teachers, principals, administrators, private, civil society organizations and local government).

What is the prize?

Who wins the rally, wins the "Vive con Esperanza: Innovation for Sustainability", wich providing recognition of the region and participate in the International Green Award  in London, who wins also receives the support of U.S. $ 150,000 to strengthen their initiatives in their community. This award is given as part of Event: Latin American Leaders in Education, Science and Technology for Sustainability in Bogota-Colombia.

The Prize "Living with Hope. Innovation for Sustainability" category consists of compulsory and complementary.

Compulsory Categories ------ * Education: educational processes in sustainability for children and youth, strategies and resources to impact the community with sustainable alternatives to reduce the impact on the environment. * Social Impact: The shares have impact on the entire school community, involving all actors, accompanied by other organizations to commit their resources to develop its actions.

Complementary Categories ---------
Resources: We evaluate the impact of the educational community in
natural resources, including forests and fossil fuels, transition to cleaner and more efficient. Energy: Advanced and innovative approaches to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and eliminate atmospheric carbon. These include energy efficiency strategies, ICT, renewal and change to energy renovable sources. Water: We assess efforts by the educational community to maintain positive water balance. We need examples of water management, such as measures to increase the efficiency of strategies for wastewater treatment, drinking water and collection strategies. Waste: We need effective strategies for waste management, including efforts to reduce, reuse and recycle. This also includes innovations in cleaning products, waste driving to the end point, reuse in innovative activities and use of compostable materials. The nature of the deposited wastes, hazardous and non-hazardous, will also considered .Supply Chain: We are looking for institutions that have integrated sustainability in their purchasing and decision making for the benefit of the environment and society, with economic objectives defined . Carbon: We need institutions with the lowest carbon footprint, making profits by selling environmental benefits. The ultimate goal is to improve current levels of consumption and carbon emissions, using a combination of reduction, mitigation and adaptation. Transport: We are looking for the institution that has traced the impacts of their transportation options and making adjustments for greater eficience.

An
